Please join filling Station in supporting the kickoff party for M:ST's Spring Runoff fundraiser from 8pm-midnight, Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Loft 112! M:ST presents a biennial performative art festival in Calgary, which is coming up this October.
Our reading begins at 8:30 pm. Readers include poet Jill Hartman, short fiction writer Jani Krulc, and eco-poet Angela Waldie.
JILL HARTMAN 's first book, A Painted Elephant, (Coach House 2003) was shortlisted for both the Writer’s Guild of Alberta’s Stephansson Award for Poetry and the League of Canadian Poets’ Lampert Award, and was featured as one of “100 Great Alberta Books” at the Calgary Public Library. Her second book was also pretty good but it didn’t get any awards. Under the imprint “semi-precious press,” she’s published dozens of chapbooks, ephemera, and artists’ books.
JANI KRULC is a writer and editor in Calgary. Her first book, The Jesus Year (Insomniac 2013), is a collection of short stories in which sincerity and absurdity collide. She is working on a second collection.
ANGELA WALDIE teaches at Mount Royal University in Calgary. She completed her PhD at the University of Calgary, where her research focused on species extinction in Canadian and American literature. She is currently writing her first poetry collection, entitled A Single Syllable of Wild.
Please note the lovely artwork by Jun K. Lee on the M:ST poster. Lee's work is also featured in filling Station issue 62!
