Issue 64: Experimentation in First Peoples' Art & Literature

filling Station is seeking submissions from Canadian First Peoples’ writers and artists for an upcoming issue devoted to Experimentation in First Peoples’ Art & Literature. The avant-garde has consistently confronted dominant political and economic forces, cultural and social conventions and even its own materiality.  Clearly a spirit of avant-gardism is at work and underpins an important subsection of Aboriginal art and literature in Canada. We welcome submissions in all genres, on any topic and in any language.*

fS’ Issue 64, Experimentation in First Peoples’ Art & Literature, will be guest-edited by Vancouver-based Nisga’a poet Jordan Abel.

Jordan Abel is a Nisga'a writer from Vancouver. Abel’s work has appeared in numerous periodicals, and his chapbooks have been published by Above/Ground Press and JackPine Press. Abel’s first book, The Place of Scraps (Talonbooks), was a finalist for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award and the winner of the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize. Un/inhabited, Abel’s second book, was co-published by Project Space Press and Talonbooks.
