Seeking 3 Fantastic People for 3 Vital Roles with the Magazine
filling Station currently has openings in the following positions: Art Editor, Digital Editor & Events Coordinator.

Art Editor
The Art Editor is ultimately responsible for the art content of the magazine. The position encompasses a number of duties, including the following:
First view vetting of submissions according to magazine mandate and guidelines
Soliciting art, when appropriate, from artists
Directing a collective of volunteers
Disseminating promising art submissions to collective members, either in person or via email
Moderating discussions of submissions at monthly collective meetings
Choosing which art pieces should be published in the magazine
Sending acceptance and rejection letters
Liaising with artists once their pieces are accepted
Qualifications for the Art Editor role include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge of a wide array of artistic forms, such as painting, photography, illustration, sculpture, printmaking, and graphic literature
Contacts in the art community
Leadership skills
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Organizational skills
A meticulous eye for detail
A self-starting personality
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
Professionalism required to be an ambassador for filling Station
Digital Editor
The Digital Editor is ultimately responsible for the web presence of the magazine. The position encompasses a number of duties, including the following:
Collect, edit, and publish new blog posts
Write blog posts as necessary, and recruit filling Station volunteers to blog
Post notifications of new blog posts on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media
Utilize social media to promote the magazine, our presence in the literary community, and our events
Input content information from past issues of filling Station into the online archive
Contact past contributors to gather current biographical information
Make sure the website is working to promote the best interests of the magazine and those involved with it
Work with the website company to facilitate any changes to the filling Station website that become necessary
Attend monthly filling Station meetings.
Qualifications for the Art Editor role include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge in communications, writing, copyediting, news writing, digital media, and marketing
A strong familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, Drupal, and Tumblr, as well as basic CSS and HTML
Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is encouraged
Above all, the editor must possess the ability to lead a team toward the creation of meaningful, quality content
Events Coordinator
The Events Coordinator is ultimately responsible for the planning, production and administration of all filling Station events.
The position encompasses a number of duties, including the following:
Book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and equipment as needed for a variety of filling Station events
Conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help make decisions about event possibilities
Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process
Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters
Assist with managing events on-site
Lead a team of volunteers to assist with all aspect of event coordination
Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting
Qualifications for the Events Coordinator role include, but are not limited to:
Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking
Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers
Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism
Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
Each of the above positions are volunteer roles. Please take note that each of the above competitions close on March 31, 2014.
