Events: The Launch of Issue #58

Huzzah! filling Station's issue #58 is available and we want to celebrate with you! Come join us at 8pm at Shelf Life Books (1302 4 St SW) and enjoy readings from four local writers who you'll find within the pages of our snazzy new issue. There will be snacks and drinks available as well as all of the literary comraderie you've come to expect from any filling Station event.

Here's a bit more about our readers:

Hollie Adams is originally from Windsor, Ontario. She is currently finishing a Ph.D. in English at the University of Calgary. Her writing has been published in (or is forthcoming from) The Antigonish Review, Prairie Fire, Carousel, The Windsor Review, online at McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, and in an anthology of fiction inspired by Broken Social Scene. Her first novel will be published by NeWest Press in 2015. She mostly does not wear pants.

Lesley Battler works in the petro-chemical industry, and has attended the Creative Writing program at the University of Calgary. Some of her work has been published in Arc, Alberta Views, dandelion, West Coast Line, Prism Magazine and filling Station 47.

Rod Moody-Corbett holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of New Brunswick and is currently working towards a PhD in English Literature at the University of Calgary. In 2011, he received a Newfoundland Arts and Letters Award for short fiction. His short story, "Parse," was a finalist for this year's CBC Canada Writes Short Story Prize, for which he also won the People's Choice Award.

Jess Nicol has brown hair and a loud voice. She is currently a PhD student at the University of Calgary.
