filling Station is having a double issue launch Friday, March 23 at 7pm at Shelf Life Books (100 – 1302 4th St SW Calgary). Enjoy readings from contributors derek beaulieu, Jon Flieger, Dave Eso, Caitlynn Cummings, Holden Baker, and Natalie Simpson, followed by the chance to connect with the literary community and meet the writers themselves. Quench your thirst for refreshing writing with issues 51 and 52.

Reader Bios:

Holden Baker is working on his undergraduate degree in English with a creative writing concentration at the University of Calgary. He is one of the editors with NōD Magazine, the undergraduate literary publication on campus.

derek beaulieu is the author of 9 books including the recently published book of critcism and poetics, Seen of the Crime (Snare Books, 2011). With Gregory Betts he is editing a reissue of bill bissett's seminal text Rush: what fuckan theory, a study of language that has been out of print since 1972, for release through BookThug in late 2012. derek has also been shortlisted for Calgary Poet Laureate.

Caitlynn Cummings has an MSc in Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh and writes poetry, fiction, and drama. She is also the Managing Editor of filling Station. Her work can be found in the Scottish magazine Drey (Red Squirrel Press), Two in the Bush (Blurb), and everywhere else you least expect it. Follow her on Twitter @Tartaned_Maple.

Dave Eso succesfully thwarted four years of litearary brain-washing at UBC and now runs an obscure literary project, Migratory Words, deep in the Canadian Rockies. Putting the cult in culture, putting the zen in citizen, he writes regularly for the Force gazette and has recently appeared in High Brau magazine, the Tightrope anthology, Strangers in Paris, and the 2011 Pooka Press Pubcrawl.

Jon Flieger is from Windsor and now lives in Calgary. He is afraid of bees.

Natalie Simpson’s first book, accrete or crumble, was published by LINEbooks in 2006. Her poetry has also appeared in the anthologies Shift & Switch (Mercury) and Post-Prairie (Talonbooks). She is a former managing editor of filling Station magazine, and intermittently publishes limited edition chapbooks through her press, edits all over. She practices law in Calgary.
