Hey guess what - there's lots going on this weekend!

1) Art Spot Anniversary, Friday May 27, 3:00 pm - 2:00 am, 1008 14 St SE (Inglewood): filling Station joins Art Spot for their awesome anniversary party. Arrive 3:00 pm for the Art Carnival; later they have DJs, rappers, burlesque, and more in an event called Metrokyo. 18+. For more info, check the Art Spot website.

2) Marketing Yourself!, Saturday May 28, 9:00 am - 10:00 pm, Mount Pleasant Community Centre, 602 – 22 Avenue NW: An eclectic event for small businesses (and random non-profits like filling Station) including networking, a keynote about best practices for social media, a business clothing fashion show, bands, and more. 3) People's Poetry Festival Meeting, Saturday May 28, 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm, Cliff Bungalow Arts Centre, 2105 Cliff Street SW: The People's Poetry Festival will have their first Volunteer Meeting. It's a chance to learn more about this new festival and the different volunteer opportunities. Snacks included. Wheelchair accessible.

4) Anarchist Book Fair, Sunday May 29, 11:00 am - 6:00 pm, The Old Y, 223 12 Ave SW: Robert Swereda and I are sharing a filling Station table with pooka press from 10:45 am until 4:00 pm. Come check it out if you want to visit with filling Station and other local small and micropressers. There's a reading at noon you could watch or participate in, a Zinetree Collective zine library to peruse, capture the flag, and more. All ages. The website for this event is here.

5) filling Station hosts pooka press pub crawl!, Sun May 29, 7 pm, Riley Park in Kensington: Starts with an all-ages reading at Riley Park (we'll meet by the flower beds near 10th Street and 5th Ave NW) featuring Warren Dean Fulton of pooka press (Vancouver), Dave Eso from Migratory Words in Canmore, Derek Beaulieu, Helen Hajnoczky, and Robert Swereda. It's free and all ages, but at 8:00 pm we'll head on the pub crawl (18+) where Warren will provide writing prompts and get us writing in Kensington pubs.
