Sheila Peters lives in Driftwood Canyon near Smithers in northwestern BC. Her poetry and fiction has been widely published in Canadian journals. Tending the Remnant Damage (BeachHolme 2001) is a linked collection of short stories; Canyon Creek: A Script (Creekstone 1998) tells the story of the eviction of a Wet’suwet’en family from its homesite near Smithers. A collection of poetry, the weather from the west, was published in collaboration with visual artist Perry Rath. Her most recent book, The Taste of Ashes, a novel, was published by Caitlin in 2012. She and her husband, Lynn Shervill, have been operating Creekstone Press, a publishing house that gives respectful space to a diversity of voices from northern BC, since 1998.
