Pete Lacaba was born in the province of Cagayan de Oro in 1945, and grew up in Manila. He has won the Philippine National Book Award for his works Days of Disquiet, Nights of Rage and Sa Daigdig ng Kontradiksyon (In A World of Contradiction), and the National Press Club/Carlsberg Award for his editorials in the magazine National Midweek. A former president of the Philippine Screenwriters Guild, he has written screenplays for various award-winning films such as Jaguar, Sister Stella L., and most recently Segurista (1996). He's also the writer of a series of columns for the esteemed publications Manila Times, Sunday Times Magazine and Philippine Graphic. He lives in Manila with the poet Marra PL Lanot, and they have a son, Kris.
