Mimoza Ahmeti

Mimoza Ahmeti (1963-) was born in Kruja, and is part of the second generation of Albanian women writers. She finished her studies of language and literature in Tirana in 1986, and her first volume of verse, Behu i bukur (Be Beautiful) was published that year. It was followed by Sidomos neser (Especially tomorrow) in 1989. Her poems contain intensely personal yet universal themes. She is known as a virtuoso of poetic technique, and has been referred to as the "enfant terrible" of Albanian letters. Ms. Ahmeti is also recognized for her individuality and her unwillingness to conform to social convention.
