Matilde Sanchez

Matilde Sanchez was born and raised in Southern Alberta. She is of Spanish and Italian descent. These poems are excerpts taken from her book-length manuscript with the working title "CANCERous", which explores the rhetoric of medical discourse, the diseased body, and the role of language in creating and sustaining alternate identities. This collection of poems is very personal, but rarely lyrical. Tillie is in her final year at the University of Calgary and will convocate in 2001 with a double degree in English, where her focus was on Creative Writing, and Communications Studies, with an emphasis on Rhetoric.
