Steak Spice

they call her steak spice
because they will never know
what overpowers them:
coriander cannons and popping mustard, aroma’s arms unleashed
blackening cumin like angered almond eyes
browning garlic, crushed and then hardened
turmeric’s yellowing flush, the sacrificial hue
and the blood red chilli that heats us
