Adrian Michael Kelly lived in Calgary from 2000-2006. During this time he briefly served as filling Station's fiction editor, published his first novel, Down Sterling Road (Coach House, 2005), and earned his PhD, which led to successively grim appointments in academic hinterlands. He currently (and happily) lives in Kingston, Ontario, with his wife, Violette, thanks to whom he now writes full-time. Recent short fiction has appeared in The Journey Prize Anthology and Best Canadian Stories. His second book, What Life Is, will be appearing from Biblioasis. Reading from "Red Arrow" at a filling Station launch in a Bridgeland basement, he performed a slow and not unsexy pole dance.
